Waterloo Data Centre

A friend of mine told me Hive has a offer to purchase a former Blackberry Data Center building located at 176 Columbia St W in Waterloo from former Dragons Den personality Michael Wekerle.

Rumour has it the purchase was slated to close today December 18, 2024 but it appears Hive might be backing out as Michael Wekerle is being sued by its tenant Columbia Data Vault.

What is confusing is Wekerle owns the building through his holding company Waterloo Innovation Network 2 Inc but he is also the CEO of Columbia Data Vault which is the tenant.

So if I am correct Wekerle is suing himself, I heard he has several other lawsuits ongoing and is currently in litigation with his former business partner and in 2018 his nephew shot and killed his best friend at his Caledon estate. He is being sued by the family of the deceased.

According to a Globe and mail article published in 2023 outlining a lawsuit eith his former buisness partner that Wekerle was under serious financial pressure with high interest lians he has with Waygar Financial who obtains funds from Nine Point Capital.

I am not sure why Hive eould walk away from the purchase so if true their mudt be much more to the story.
