The Canadian Shield

I could add to a few threads already started here but let me start my own anew as July 1st is soon here.

In this country we are truly blessed in that the Canadian Shield is almost entirely within our border. Recall your high school geography classes when we were taught about the great wealth which is abundant within the Canadian Shield which stretches across at least 6 provinces and two territories. It is a treasure chest of almost any natural resource that a modern, industrial country would need. It is largely unexplored and undeveloped. A great number of old time and modern prospectors have chipped away at the surface of it all but one thing is clear, the Shield holds the resources needed by the world to continue on with technological development and the progress of humanity.

Points were made about how China has locked up the supply chain for much of the world's demand for certain high tech metals but rest assured that those minerals exist in great quantities within our borders and if present trends continue which paint a negative picture on China for various geo-political reasons, and there is no reason to believe that they will subside anytime soon, Canada is well-positioned to take over as THE supplier of those critical and often strategic mineral resources to the free world. The EU made overtures to that point at the last G7.

Lithium and rare earth metals in northern Quebec and Saskatchewan. Uranium in nothern Saskatchewan. Don't forget uranium from the NWT that supplied the first atomic bomb. Nickel in northern Ontario, Manitoba and Newfoundland. Iron Ore in Quebec, Newfoundland and Nunavut. Paladium, copper, nickel and platinum in northern Ontario. Gold and Silver pretty much everywhere. Outside the Shield in the softer rock there is oil and natural gas from coast to coast to coast. I could go on.

Glenn Gould wrote volumes about the importance of the Shield to Canadian culture. It is a major part of what makes Canada the nation it is today. Its where we have cottages (camps) and where we fish, hunt, water ski, hike and generally hang loose with a cold beer. I certainly do.

Silicon from Quartz? I own 200 acres of the Canadian Shield and it wouldn't take me long to show anyone a seam of quartz on my hunting grounds that would bring tears to your eyes.

Anyway, HPQ is well-positioned to access quartz from the Shield and the off-shield periphery and then there is Beauce Gold Fields. We are in a great position as shareholders of HPQ in Canada. IMHO think longer term which may only be a year out. HPQ is destined for greatness and we as shereholders are sitting on the brink of great wealth. Raise a glass to a happy Canada Day! GLTA.

Well said, you pretty much summed up everything!!! And yes I do share your optimism and foresite, patience is key and hang tough thru the drops. We will see some huge economic changes in the next few years as fossil fuel switches to electric, and quartz and silicon are critical as are other rare earth elements, When the US government recognises this dependancy on offshore supply and makes policies ...more

Most Excellent post Sir.. Let me ask as an American for the Canadians to keep the Chinese Communist Party's filthy mits from locking up claims in your beloved nation. They're not stopping for anyone with their 100 year plan of global domination. People think we live on a slave planet now? Let these tyrants control the planet and see what happens.  They've got a good foothold ...more

On that subject there was a case about 6 months ago where the federal government quashed the purchase by a Chinese company of a gold mine in our arctic all based on national security reasons: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/canada-china-tmac-1.5851305 Also, the federal government is under pressure from the opposition to release information about two chinese nationals who were expelled from ...more
