NEO Battery Materials Files 5th Silicon Anode Nanocoating P

On Stockhouse news... couldn't copy link

"Dr. J. H. Park, Director and Chief Scientific Advisor of NEO, added, "To meet the requirement for recent battery manufacturers, especially Si anode materials, low-cost, metallurgical grade silicon microparticles is an excellent candidate, but its pulverization problem is a substantial challenge. We have proved that NEO's one-pot nanocoating process is applicable to a wide range of Si materials including nano- and micron-sized particles. NEO's Si anode material forms a highly robust and stable solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer within a few cycles in the Si anode and acts as a damper to reduce the stress from the Si anode."

IMO, HPQ is ahead in nano production...

So as Bernard says they can coat the Si but where are they going to get it in the first place?   Good luck with that.

So NEO hired someone who used to work at Dairy Queen making snow cones? Bernard described the process using the dipped cone as a comparrison to the process.

What's your point? If you don't have one stop posting noise.

Bernard said in his last interview the coating process is quite easy to do and compared it to making a dip cone. Where you have an ice-cream cone and then you dip it in chocolate. He went on to say that making the nano silicon powder is the difficulty and that those who are saying they have perfected the coating process still don't have the ability to produce silicon powders at the sizes ...more

Exactly, you cant just take silicon and crush it into sub 100nm particles and expect to produce what you want in commercial quantities.  Even if you could, which you cant, the amount of energy you would use to do it would be massive.  As far as i can tell HPQ has the only solution on the planet to solve this.  Once this goes commercial quantities the SP will reach insane levels ...more
