Excellent work by HPQ and NOVACIUM. From the NR: “These ongoing results continue to surpass our expectations,” stated Dr. Jed Kraiem Ph.D., COO of Novacium. “The fact that battery consistently exceeds our internal theoretical estimate of a 10% improvement in battery performance, even after 50 cycles is a powerful validation of our approach.” And “I am profoundly encouraged by these promising ...more

Put your pom poms away. Anyone can exceed expectations if the bar is set really, really low. Is 14% uplift even worth getting excited about? LOL

Let's not forget that is just the begining. 14% will easily be surpassed in futur trials.

"Easily"?  This performance has exceeded their own expectations.  Don't forget that plenty of others are experimenting with SiOx, it is not a secret.  The easier it is, the less money is there to be made.

Plenty of others.  Can you name one?  Hopefully, one pursuing a "green" solution. It certainly will be helpful to compare these other suppliers to HPQ solution to determine our competitiveness. If there are plenty it shouldn't be difficult to provide just one. Heck I'm assuming since you know there are plenty you already have done the research and have the list handy ...more

MSE Supplies.  You can now get 500 grams for $50 off.

And just for clarity, they may not be a producer but a supplier in case you decide to pick on that.  But obviously if they are not a producer, they are getting it from someone. You can also Google top 10 silicon based anode companies in the world and read up on them.  I figure "top 10" implies there is more than 10. Questions how they are produced and how they compare with ...more

To your point they're not a good comparison to HPQ. As you've stated they're not a producer. HPQ has the powerful opportunity to be both a producer and supplier. We all know what the benefits of vertical integration brings to the table. Secondly, the supply that HPQ produces will be green while the MSE supply is not green. So no carbon rebate potential for MSE based product. I could ...more

Sure.  Silicon-based likely different recipes, different manufacturing processes.  Is HPQ testing its batteries against those that are already somehow silicon-based? Don't know, doesn't matter what we know and what we think.  A lot of companies working in this space, they will have the final call and HPQ/Novacium success will be determined by future revenues.  Time ...more

From @Brodeur9 (ceo): @Brodeur9 Remarkable and mind-blowing. The main parameter to watch out for is degradation in my opinion and for the moment, it's excellent, it's still similar to graphite! @Minecraft Fast charging will probably not be tested in this test. It certainly uses a slow charging speed to adequately compare with the comparable. With fast charging, the degradation will ...more

Interesting that they are specifying testing against a particular Samsung battery that sounds like it has 2.5 to 5 times greater degradation rate than some other batteries.   Is there a call to Samsung?  And what will be their reply. i expect it to be talked about in the upcoming Agoracom video.  ;-)
