Lots of thought-provoking things in these NRs even for those that are just learning through this journey.  HPQ seems well on the way towards beating the recorded record for energy-density and then the questions should shift towards the viability and path to eventual commercialization.  Current average graphite energy-densities have been beaten over a decade ago but have not become the

What's with the testing of partially optimized material?    Get on with the fully optimized material.

I would logically deduce that they don't know what the optimized mix and quality is.  Once the energy densities stop increasing significantly then they will have to start finer tweaking that will get them to the best state they can get to in that point in time (but R&D will be continuous). The energy density is only one part of the equation.  Degradation is one of the others

Would expect you are right. This optimization is still experimentation and is the only way forward.  The NR says HPQ is on the right track.....and I like that it is tracking its competition...one it identifies who they are and two, they know what state they are in and feel good about their competitive abilities
