Rough diamond trade touches $2.24 billion in H1 (Staff report) 16 July 2007 DUBAI — The Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a subsidiary of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, announced yesterday that the total trade in rough diamonds in Dubai reached $2.24 billion in the first half of 2007. This was overall 17 per cent higher than the $1.91 billion traded during the same period in 2006. Between January and June of this year, rough diamond imports into Dubai increased by 26 per cent, to $937 million, while exports exceeded $1.3 billion, marking a 12pc increase.

In my opinion... pfn43 post (and answer to jcja – “So” question) was demonstrating the demand vs. supply of ruff diamonds is widening because the world markets are getting more self-economic.... and in simple terms, this means more can afford the same fringe benefits. USA was the biggest market for diamonds, and remains so, but today as these emerging economies develop we see many changes
