split

A 1 for 5 split is the stupidous thing they could do it answers no problems and even at 1 for 10 is a desperation act, used to placate investors and descends gradually. Perfect examples are Nortel and Tahera. In November Nortel was 2.44 and did a split 1 for 10 making the stock 24.40. A few days ago it was 18.00 bringing the pre split price of 2.44 down to 1.80 and as far as Tahera goes that is now a complete disaster. If they do any split watch out!!!!!!! Cheers Wilf

Totally agree wilf9. A reverse stock split has rarely if ever worked to do anything but set the stock up for even larger downs. If you buoy the price up with nothing to back up the price increase, where else can the share price go? Come on- buy the shares back (you issued them) thereby giving the stock a fair value rather than a superficial one. Good post Wilf9.

They cant buy the shates back until they are making wads of dough. An example is BHP who does it because they are making billions in profit. Cheers Wilfse3
