...the impression one gets from watching the Fed yesterday is that it's most certainly not in control of the situation and is hoping to muddle through...

I disagree.  They're in complete control.  Banks are fully liquid.  If anything, they have too much.  Fed very skillfully normalizing rates and taking down asset prices.  Gold was beneficiary of liquidity, just like everything else.

They have done nothing. They have given no guidance. They cannot raise rates and they cannot do nothing. They are totally and truly F'KD.  The economy is dropping off a cliff and if they tighten they will only accelerate the plunge. Consumers had 6 TRILLION in excess savings now they have 1 TRILLION....they blew the stimmies, they are broke again. Inflation is imbedded and not going to ...more
