quick read will tell you that cobalt is still in the battery.

and the long and short of the story tells JRV to keep at it!

The question unfortunetely is not how much Cobalt is in EV batteries now, but rather how much will be in Cobalt in 3-5 years, None.   The largest Chinese EV production lines have already migrated away from Cobalt (Buffet), and Teslas new 4860s batteries will also use zero cobalt and is in the Model Y the number #1 selling EV globally.  Additionally, Glencore is coming back on ...more

share with us (document) your insights into the future of cobalt.  it would expecially be instructive to have more details about china's turn from cobalt.

Certainly,  Well I would start with this link describing the China's shift away from  Cobalt. It is a good article. https://grabify.link/42Z726 Of course China is just one of the issues here.  The Model Y, Glencore, and the fact that solid state was 10 years away... 8 years ago.

thank you, the "opinion" piece from bloomberg by anjani trivedi reads like an "infomercial" for the chinese "Hong Kong"  auto company BYD.  the "blade battery" highlighted in the bloomberg opinion article needs a further look.

Folks from St. Catharines are natoriously  nostalgic about their stocks apparently, lol.   It was an opinion peice, yes; Is the largest EV manufacture ditching colalt... curiously... also yes. Sorry.

not so fast...according to this august 11, 2021, piece from Tesmanian.com, "BYD Denies Rumors that it will Supply 'Blade' Batteries to Tesla" https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmanian-blog/byd-denies-rumors-that-it-will-supply-blade-batteries-to-tesla we have to be very guarded with BLOOMBERG opinion pieces the can come at a heavy "price", and the chinese have ...more

I'm confused. The previous article I posted didn't suggest that BYD was supplying batteries to Tesla (unless I am missing something). It just said they are comitted to using LFP batteries without Cobalt enrtirely now, which they are. Additionally, they are 15% of the  Chinese market and growing. These LPF batteries are 30% cheaper and much safer.  So basically, Tesla and BYD (the ...more

"...Tesla and BYD (big boys)...Cobalt Free,..." where did this come from?  Glencore to put 20K tonnes of cobalt on the market...help us with your sources of information, please. your context could almost be sourced from YouTube!

Don't tell Australian Super. They just backed up the truck and filled it with JRV. I guess they didn't do any research, right?
Comment by heworim392 on Aug 16, 2021 2:09pm
I wouldn't call a .35 cent stock price after being fully funded something that makes anyone comfortable, especially since  Tesla's 4860 No-cobalt batteries with 50% lower costs and significant range increases have successfully validated performance and lifetime. Solid state is around the corner. It is all a matter of what happens in 2022 as we approach production. Glencore will come ...more

Let me guess.  You are under 30 years old, have a robinhood account, a big bitcoin stash and are a moderator on reddit?
Comment by heworim392 on Aug 16, 2021 3:16pm
Nope. I'm near 60,  have an etrade account, and never used or invested in bitcoin (where did that question come from??). I'm one of the old-time investors believe it or not, since 2005 (Formation Capital, Formation Metals, Ecobalt, Jervois.... hmmm, did I miss one?).  I was around long enough so that I knew the old guys on the board who knew about the value of our property, and ...more

OK heworm,  I believe you are 60.  Why put in so much energy, like half a dozen posts into convincing everyone that they are wrong when presumably you have sold all your shares?
Comment by heworim392 on Aug 17, 2021 10:12am
Fair enough. Lots of sources say that Cobalt demand will increase for the next few years. After so many years, and so many ups and downs, it will be interesting to see what finally happens.  JRV could do quite well indeed. You are correct though, I am out entirely now, and just have a nagging interest (and yes, 'concern').  However, good luck, and I'll keep my comments more ...more
