PLET More Advanced than LEC?...

I've been trying to see what the differences are between Pure Lignin Environmental Technoloies Ltd and Lignol and so far they seem to have different fermentation processes for the feedstock, but it seems that PLET is in more advanced stages of commercialization than LEC from what I understand.

If there's anyone that's still invested here and would like to give some input, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see any mention of an enzyme optimization process, without that and some claim to the eventual enzyme patents it's basically like trying to patent a method for making booze.

Thanks M101.

Looks like Lyall is dumping another 100,000 today, or trying. I don't read much into it, so he's made 25% on a $55,000 investment made 5 months ago. By this time he knows we all know who's unloading so he's not trying to drip trade, just putting it out there for anyone building a position. $.15 is a fair price for both sides, and given the lot size he's not done. The recent ...more

I think what it will ultimately come down to is efficiencies.  I'm hoping that is where LEC's extraction process shines. As for competition, nothing wrong with that.  We're talking about a market that is worth in the multi-$$Billions.  atb

Yeah, re efficiencies it'd be nice to hear from a biochemist. What sort of equipment and processes are needed to efficiently slice up this 28 ring molecule without wasting the best properties. And what high value molecules are produced? I'm relatively new to this board so if this has been long since discussed please point me to an earlier post.

M101, I'm not a biochemist, but looking at other producers of 'high quality' lignin products, I think that there are other accepted pretreatments and fermentation of the pulp prior to extracting the lignin & hemi-cellulose & commercial grade cellulose. PLET seems to be well ahead of Lignol and its processes are patented and they've done all the necessary studies and seem ...more

I'm no biochemist either, so I took your advice and googled "high quality lignin". Half way down the first page I saw this link: https://www.bioautocouncil.com/conferences/international-lignin-biochemicals.aspx It's the home page of a conference held last November. It features the agenda of the two-day mid-week conference in Ontario. Running down the fairly short list of ...more

chalkmarks, the link I provided was from the IllinoisVoice April 28, 2011 edition, so it's quite recent.I previously checked Pure Lignin Environmental Technologies' website and I admit it is dated, but they are after all a private company at present. It seems they've already gone through the same stages of testing and commercialization that Lignol is going through now ...more

great find, thanksnice summary of markets and competitors by sector, nice document for marketing a turn-key system, but it's still basically thermal and redox chemistry from the pulp industry, not biochemistry which is really what's going to make or break LEC.

I havnt researched PLET to any detailed degree but what I have seen doesnt convince me that it is at a more advanced stage than  LECBesides, availability of high-quality lignin in large quantities should stimulate  market demand for a variety of lignin derivatives,PLET seems to be mainly into the intergrated kraft mill concept whereas LEC includes that but also is focussed on primary ...more

Thanks TheRock07.I think that HP-L Lignin being produced by LEC using their propietary technology is just another process in what seems now to be many different available processes of producing "High Quality Lignin".  Whatever the name, High Quality or High Performance, it's a form of Lignin that can be used to eliminate petroleum based products.Maybe LEC has a different ...more
