CRS is totally dead

Q3 just out with a 3-month loss of $1.2 million and shrinking revenue. People should realize this company is 100% dead. Just go to a Canadian Tire and look at the Eveready LED display and then go to a Home Depot and compare the LED displays there from the obvious market leader, Philips, and also the LED 6" and 4" downlights from Cree. There is simply no comparison. The junk from CRS is all 3000K+. For most applications people prefer the warmer 2700K, which CRS appears unable to manufacture--or maybe they just can't figure out that that's what's winning in the market. For halogen replacements, like LED MR16s, 3000K is not so bad because halogens are themselves a cooler colour. But even in that area CRS is virtually certain to be crushed by Philips' vastly superior research and name. Philips recently came out with a terrific 6W (50W equivalent) 3000K GU10 and I'm sure they'll soon be out with a new and improved LED MR16.

Sad for the environment, I suppose, but most of CRS's inferior bulbs will probably ultimately end up in landfills.

Somewhere around 1920 there were about 85 North American car makers. Not too long after that there were three. And all that time the overall industry was growing like crazy. Same thing is happening--and will continue to hapen--with LED lighting. Four years ago CRS had an industry-leading LED MR16. Now it has nothing that stands out. Just take the trip to Home Depot and look at the new Philips LEDs ...more
