Isn't all advertising a paid promotion?  The term 'Compensated Endorser' is on my infomercials these days. It would be illegal to pubish anything false and very risky to do so seeing its teetering on influence peddling.   To that level, Andrew LEft and Citron Reserach certainly did lots of that too - but to theshorting side (while selling subscriptions).
