Volume

Hi All,
Enjoy reading the posts as we sit and wait for BO news.
Noticed that the Volume has been up substantially over the last 5 days, not crazy high, but high compared to the recent trading volume. Curious on others take on this, do you think this was due to the recent Reddit post, with more people coming on board, or might this be some "Friends and Family" increasing their positions, or any other thoughts you might have.
Hang in there, hopefully we get some positive news soon.

I believe that reddit post is a few weeks old now.  I think it has more to do with the recent American bank failures.  Some see it as good for gold, others are unwilling to keep their money in a risky bet.   The price has generally stayed in the same position, so it's not like people are gobbling up shares faster than they are being sold.  I have to think if someone ...more

But there is a missing piece of the puzzle Wizzle. Who is doing the selling? Is it the market maker again supplying shares so that, even with big volume, no change in price. We on this forum have commented in the past about the fact that the powers that be at LME seem to want to keep the price of the shares from rising. I don't think it is for the reason suggested in the Reddit post-I think ...more

In response to your post Matlas, I think i am missing something... if the MM is reducing their shares so the members of the friends and family group don't sell (because of a high share price) aren't they putting themselves in a position where they could potentially lose control by lowering the quantity of their shares too much?
Comment by matlas on Mar 16, 2023 3:04pm
That begs the question of where and how the MM gets its shares and where and how they replenish ones that are sold. I really do not know. However, I never would have thought that MM has enough shares to impact control,

I agree, it is hard to imagine selling at this point.... Heck I couldn't imagine selling at 1$..... but I am greedy. For sure there are millions of shares out there bought under 10c, so those that sell are already at 4x thier investment.... But anyone who bought in the last 2 years is doing so at the hopes of 5$ to 30$ share price.... Maybe I just drank too much cool aid, and can't see ...more

I'm having a hard time buying in to this ideas.  Friends and family own more than 80%, correct?  These are folks that have consistently doubled down when given the chance.  Even if nearly half of these folsk sold out LME would still have insider control.  They didn't sell at $1.  Why would they sell at 50 or 60 cents?
Comment by Wmaver on Mar 16, 2023 3:24pm
I guess having trouble selling... is probably one of the reasons I am currently sitting at a negative value in my LME purchases.... There are a few changes I would have made having a crystal ball.... but let's all hope that in the end we all look back at this season of waiting and negative stock values as just making the endgame that much sweeter whenever it eventually happens.... until then ...more

I may well be all wet in connection wiy my theory. I know that years ago, they fought off a hostile takeover bid, and I think that, because of that they are sensitive about maintaining control, which, for certain purposes may need more than 50%. However, the fact remains that they seem to want to keep price level low. I am happy to hear other theories as to why.

Good lord the conspiracies never stop.   No one is trying to suppress the price. There is no logic in that. The MM is not what you all think. He is there to help smooth out the fluctuations of buyers and sellers. If there are a larger number of sellers than buyers on a given day he is there to ensure those sellers can sell without crushing the stock and vice versa. The exception would ...more

In response to your post ilovexau. Something you said isnt quite making sense to me...  "The MM is not what you all think. He is there to help smooth out the fluctuations of buyers and sellers. If there are a larger number of sellers than buyers on a given day he is there to ensure those sellers can sell without crushing the stock and vice versa"  Is this not manipulation of ...more

No problem Lambo, it is a grey area I suppose, but the thinking is, as a stock becomes more followed it can become more volatile and therefore easier to manipulate. I believe we saw some of this last fall. The market maker , within reason is there to do exactly that, "make a market", so that no small investor or group of investors can force large fluctuations. Generally the MM does not ...more

Correct. As the bigest basher of the MM in the past I reached out and asked about them and was told that they only BUY shares and that they are for their own clients. LME isn't tanking their stock and if you recall, Cynthia boasted about the share price when it was racing higher and going over $1 I have noticed over the past few weeks that one institution a time has been buying more shares ...more

Thanks for great info and advice DAM$. I gladly retract my previous comments about LME wanting to keep price low. However, I still think that my theory has merit in terms of explaning real reason why they don't want to release assay results.  If that caused share price to go to (say) $5-$10 before a buyout, there would be some real concern that some of the friends and family want to ...more

Dam, I know you know this but for clarity to those that may not quite now the workings behind the scenes, all the institutional trades you are mentioning are not necessarily by the institution. Most if not all of those institutional trades are for the individual retail clients of those institutions. It is just their broker of record.
Comment by DAM$ on Mar 17, 2023 11:57am
ilovexau, Definitely. I am just pointing out that an individual at these institutions has the confidence to buy a large volume. Scotia Bank isn't taking a position at 200000 worth less than $100000. but when you see a block trade bought by Credential or National you can be certain that it is one person. The daily trades by TD, Questtrade, CIBC and the likes are are a little harder to pindown ...more
