Using proxy voting to take control of meeting

The standard voting instruction form sent by your broker allows you to appoint a proxy by writing in their name.  In my form from TD it is found in "Step 2: Appoint A Proxy (Optional)".  If people here wanted to join forces, all they would have to do is agree on a representative to go to the meeting, write their name in the form, and send the forms to that person.  The two big benefits of doing this.
  1. The proxy could vote against a trustee, instead of simply having the option of withholding (which is the only option if you give management your proxy).  Enough votes against a trustee would guarentee that they would have to step down.
  2. The proxy could vote against adjourning the meeting, a strategy apparently used in the past by trustees to ensure that the vote goes their way.  If the meeting ends without adjournment, management would not have more time to rustle up more votes.  Any proposals that do not have enough votes would be defeated, if the meeting is not adjurned.
I'm probably too late in suggesting this for this coming meeting (I just became aware of it on Friday, when my papers arrived), but proxies could be used at the next date, if this meeting is adjurned.  Or it could be used at the next meeting (unless insiders have locked up control by then).  I thought I'd bring this up because, as others have observed, there just might be enough votes on this forum to control a meeting.

I'm for this strategy, unless it's too late for this meeting. Anyone attending in person? I believe electronically we can change our vote up until the 23rd, so I would be willing to update my proxy to someone attending. Also, please private message me to join the discord group, a safer place for us to discuss things.

I would be wary of anyone stating they are going to the meeting and will vote your proxy. I wouldn't trust thye management to put up their own man for it.

I still have not received my voting instruction form. Maybe I am on the bad boy list and they don't want me to vote. I live in a major city with daily mail service. It is not as if I am in the sticks. I have two days left to vote my intentions. I am starting to get antsy. Nothing like management leaving it to the last minute. The closer they leave it to the expiry date, the more likely ...more

I'll be right pissed if I don't receive my package in time to vote my units

Isn't there someone we can file a formal complaint to regarding failure to send vote package in a timely manner?  We likely should have filed a formal complaint regarding the vote regarding the conversion of debentures to common shares.

Voted no today.  Turns out that my voting package was in a pile of mail I hadn't opened yet.  LOL.

That is a definite possibility, but one thing I do is every day I go to the mailbox and check the mail. I have usually opened the mail before I get home. I have a pile of Voter Information Forms all sorted by the date they need to be voted on. There is absolutely no way that I have missed this one. I still have not received it and only have one day to vote. Please vote NO in case my VIF doesn ...more
