Exploration Drilling Begins at Mexican Gold Mine by Mid-Tier Producer Luca Mining (LUCA.v LUCMF)
Last week, Luca Mining (LUCA.v LUCMF) launched an exploration drilling campaign at its Tahuehueto gold mine in Durango, Mexico, aiming to complete up to 5,000 meters of diamond core drilling across 26 holes from underground over the next four to six months.
The 7,492-hectare property hosts a significant epithermal gold/silver vein system with 12 identified mineralized zones along a 6km trend and the campaign focuses on infill and step-out drilling to explore the extent of mineralization and discover new brecciated zones within the vein system.
Notably, recent findings from Level 23 revealed high-grade gold concentrations, averaging 3.30 grams per tonne (g/t) and peaking at 65.04g/t across widths up to 20 meters. The property also includes at least 14 additional prospective veins, which could extend the existing resource with potential for low-sulphidation epithermal mineralization.
CEO Dan Barnholden expressed optimism about the project's expansion potential, citing the company’s $30 million investment in exploration and development and the construction of a 1,000-tonne-per-day processing plant. The Tahuehueto mine is expected to reach commercial production in 2024, promising ongoing drill results and steady updates for investors.
