2 billion lbs of copper in Nuggett tailings Pond

6.7 million tons of copper have been produced through the Nuggett  Pond copper mill since 1982.....with a portion also produced by the Copper circuit of the Nuggett Pond dual circuit gold mill now owned by Maritime

Assuming the usual 15% of head grade  unrecovered through production, that's about 1 million tons of copper fines which is 2 Billion lbs of copper deposited into the Nuggett Pond tailings pond along with at least 50,000  ounces of gold fines by production from the Ming mine  also discharged into the tailings pond.

Normally, low grade ore that must be mined enroute to the main ore body is retained in a stockpile to be milled after the main body of ore is mined out.

But, that no longer exists being processed by former owners..

So, the tailings can replace the stockpile inventory except grades of the fines, being concentrated in the tailings discharge,  will be around 10 times higher than stockpiled inventory .....

A potential JV project for Firefly and MAE..let's see first how the current Feasability study for recovering gold fines from the Pine Cive mill turns out..

4.1 million tons of that 6.7 m tons was mined between 1972-82 at an average grade of 2.17% copper and above average gold grade plus silver and zinc. During the first 5 years of mining by Rambker...2013 onwards . rambler high graded with copper grades averaging over 2,5 % with gold grades about 1.5 grams per ton . Recoveries were lower in the earlier period, so my 10% tailings waste  takes ...more
