Why's The Spread Always Cockeyed?

I mean I look at my real time brokerage connection through IB and I see the price is showing a 5 cent decline....O.K. Great!!! How come the ASK never comes down (from .90 cents) but that Bid price jumps all over the place? I'd LOVE to buy more shares.....at the 5 cent discounted price. Why this wide gap that I don't see a lot of elsewhere? Anyone know what's up with that???

Some shmuck likely put in a sell at "market" price & a few low bidders got the deal, why anyone does that, I'm not sure. Why the lowest ask is @ .90 now, not sure. For one thing, I would not sell that low, we all know it's worth much much more....maybe that's way the # of ask lots are so low. This thing is way undersold,Does anyone know how many shorts are out there?

Thanks to whomever for tightening up that spread so I could buy more shares here this morning!!!! It's within a couple of cents right now and I see that last order I placed at .88 cents was just filled. Weakness is weakness and MUST be bought. It's a FINE, fine day!!

And look at it at the close......87 and .93. That's 6% to 7%! Jeeeez. What controls that? Because I don't typically see those kinds of spreads for a stock that's under a buck very often. Anyone??

chux, you are reading way too much into any of this.  there is little volume right now...who cares about pennies one way or another.  How a stock trades while financing is pending/not closed means little.Bids and asks are quite often automatically pulled at the end of the day....why, I don't know (automation?) but it happens all the time....my lowball bid on another stock became the ...more

TC.....The reason the bid and asks come off at the end of the day is that alot of people put their bids in "for the day" only, and at close they drop off the system.BJ

BJ,My order with Scotia Mcleod was "day only" and it remained on the "system" after the close and was the top bid today.  Perhaps other brokers deal with it differently.  One would think that "Day Only" would still be available for the after hours trading (only available at the closing price of course).tC

TC....I'm thinking it may have still shown on your system, but was only good until close and therefore not part of the bid/ask after that.  I could be wrong as I don't confess to be a broker, but kinda makes sense to me.BJ

Absolutely Chux, This will not matter much when the SP is jumping .10-.15 at a time.....$1.25-$1.40 is within reach!
