Novel Idea

It would be so refreshing in these companies if a board seat was always reserved for the single largest individual shareholder of the company who wasn't apart of a retail or commercial firm. Just a single investor. As long as that individual remained the highest holding shareholder they would maintain their seat. As soon as someone surpassed them they would take the seat for the year. Then you have someone at the table with who truely represents the average shareholder. 

Yes I am logistically this idea has many issues. 

Just my idea.

There are plenty of ideas but they have to be implemented by the board. You don't see too often ideas that threaten their fees, I mean seats. One of the ideas is that they receive a part of their fees in shares. But they prefer it in cash so who do you think makes the change?

Anyhow, this is all nice chatter. As i previously said, Mr. Linton has a lot of other things going to preoccupy him and it seems to me that I underestimated his focus on MTLO. At the same time, given where he could spend his time, I am appreciative that he is putting more of an effort here and I would certainly not be pleased if I was him not to see others pull their weight but counting on him to ...more

The idea of a board member is somewhat more complicated. For example, what if the shareholder was a competitor? But your point of having demonstrated positive interests for the benefit of the company and the shareholders is key. As we have stated before, what is the value added of a number of board members who have no skin in the game. Are they really there just to collect their free share options ...more
