I thought Family Day was only an Alberta holiday.  Guess I was wrong again.

It's not a statutory holiday in Ontario, just as Remembrance Day and Easter Monday aren't. Law in Ontario is that a company has to pay employee nine holidays per year. However, company or union can negotiate paid day off, employee can take a sick day, or employee can give up another paid holiday such as Simcoe Day in August; but bottom line is that no company in Ontario has to give their ...more

It is only a stat holiday if you work for an Ontario corporation. If you work for a Canada corporation it is not.

Have a look at this list from the Min. of Labour and notice what is missing.Ontario has nine public holidays: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day (December 26)Most employees who qualify are entitled to take these days off work and be paid public holiday pay.
