there's gold in them there hills or plains...thinking NFGC now has a direction which is higher...the majors are lurking now more than ever....
Comment by seashark00 on Apr 13, 2022 2:54pm
The majors won't be buying until there is a lot more work done.  At least a PFS.
Comment by BlueChipper2020 on Apr 13, 2022 3:36pm
You are right that majors won't be buying until there is a lot more work done HOWEVER the owners here won't be selling before there is a lot more work done to unlock much much more value. Expect the completion of this 400K drilling program followed by another in 2023/2024.  You are incorrect that you need a PFS. You don't. You often don't even need a 43-101. In the case of ...more

1) It appears a Canadian public company needs a "yes" vote from shareholders who, combined, own two-thirds or more of the total shares outstanding to approve a takeover. See page 4 of the following document from Osler: Shareholder Approval   "Although the shareholder approval threshold for an arrangement is generally subject to the discretion of the court and ...more

Great post as always BC but somewhat disagree that I think it is possible for a major to jump the gun to get a early position before it gets too big for their liking. Davec12 is again thinking this is a run of the mill find.  I assure you it is not so the same rules do not apply. Likeike you are right, with ultra high grade deposits history has shown they do not need resource estimates, PEA's or proven reserves. Anyone remember Airequipa mining from the 90's? I believe it took 16 drill holes for Barrick to swoop in at $29.00 per share. GBR is another example of this, no resource estimate. The majors due a tremendous amount or due diligence behind the scenes and ...more

Comment by Stockpicks96 on Apr 13, 2022 10:19pm
Great minds think alike lol. Just commenting from my own experience in this sector. I have found that resource estimates, proven reserves, PEA's come into play with low-mid grade deposits where majors see them as economical and ultimately profitable to mine over the long run, BUT in that same breath, they aren't exactly chomping at the bit to buy them out. These reports in effect act as a ...more

BlueChipper is 100% correct. A big gold major can come in and buy it out (try and buy it) whenever they want too but they do need board approval from their own company before making a bid. Two buyouts without a PFS or a 43-101 come to mind and that is the recent Great Bear Resources buyout by Kinross for $1.9 billion and way back in the late 90's Barrick Gold ...more

Gee willickers Megaman you'd think you had been listeing to Eric Sprott who in one of his  early videos about Fosterville preached on and on how high grade was key to make it one of the most profitable mines in the world if not the most profitable.       Highly unlikely that a major gold company would pay more than $5 billion dollars for this property or any other mineral property for that matter. Right you are Ike.  We all like to get carried away but realistically a take over is a long way off.  Majors will not pay what they think the asset is worth.  If they did how would they make any money.  NFG has the real deal here.  Further drilling and results should move the stock price higher.  Eric Sprott is no fool and his continued interest in buying more of NFG ...more

If majors won't  pay what they think the asset is worth, they better move quick with a half decent number. With every drill result the "what it's  worth number" is increasing.

Good post bddg. There's no doubt in my mind that the principals have a plan, and possibly have, from the beginning. I would be concerned if they did not as it would indicate to me that they are flying by the seat of their pants. The plan in my opinion is to sell the asset at the most opportune time, that is, when the price is right. I agree also that price of gold is in for a long ride down ...more

One of the big issues most are refusing to acknowledge here is the reluctance of any major to make insane buyout deals like the one above, whcih just about bankrupted Kinross. 10 billion is cheap. Queensway North is probably worth that on its own and you get Queensway South thrown in as a bonus.

You are probably right but in this game hardly anything ever gets sold for exactly what it is worth, unfortunately.
