APPLETON, N.L. — New Found Gold wants to do more seismic survey and trenching work to explore for minerals near Appleton, in central Newfoundland.

Before they can cut down trees or clear a 269-kilometre-long path, however, the company has to get approval from the province’s environment department.

According to documents filed with the department, the company wants to conduct a seismic survey over 48 square kilometres.

The path to access the survey area would be about two to three metres wide.

Ike, Here's a story. Years ago, in the mid/late 80s - long before I got involved in this game, I bought a fairly large collection of Asmat art from a guy who had been working there.  Great stuff - Mbis figues, shields, green-stone weapons...very cool. They had a mountain...they landed a bull-dozer by Sikorsky on top of it.  It went back and forth until they could land another...and ...more

HiSeis Ltd. based in Subiaco, Australia will be carrying out the seismic surveys on behalf of NFG. According to New Found Gold, HiSeis is “an experienced, leading international seismic services company and have proposed a modern, low-impact seismic line construction method for this project.” Are there no experienced Canadian companies?? NFG management should do their homework.

This is a pretty lame statement from you, Diabase.  I am surprised that you would choose to post such a statement. I reckon NFG HAS done their homework...and chose the best company for their needs at a price that they could afford...and that wouldn't make investors jittery. Think it through...how is it that so many Canadian mining companies are actively exploring (and producing ...more
