Gold Summary for Sept. 13, 2022 2022-09-13 18:56 ET - Market Summary by Stockwatch Business Reporter Collin Kettell's New Found Gold Corp. ( $NFG ) added 12 cents to $4.71 on 256,000 shares on word of a new bonanza-grade strike at its Queensway gold project in north-central Newfoundland. The new hit returned 152.1 grams of gold per tonne over 3.85 metres -- or 211.9 grams per tonne over 2.75 metres for those unwilling to include a 1.1-metre stretch that averaged barely 2.5 grams per tonne. The assays are from three new holes drilled into the Lotto Main zone, where high-grade mineralization has now been defined over a strike length of 220 metres thanks to a new hole that returned 16.1 grams per tonne over 3.6 metres. This zone, the company cheers, is not closed off in any direction along strike, or at depth. Openness aside, New Found is looking closely at a particular area at Lotto Main, where the geology suggests high-grade gold may be concentrated. Adding to its enthusiasm for this area is another new assay that averaged nearly 13 grams of gold per tonne over 14.95 metres. As usual, the company turned to Melissa Render, its vice-president of exploration, to provide the promotional quotes of good cheer. Perhaps surprisingly, she delivered today's enthusiasm without her usual thick geological accent. Still, laymanese does not come easy for her, as she set aside her geology textbooks but picked up a thesaurus: These results "affirm the richness and potential" of the Lotto Main vein, she enthused, noting that "after a short hiatus to focus on near-surface targets in this area," drilling has resumed testing this area to depth. Ms. Render did pay homage to her geological roots in her conclusion, applauding that "ongoing exploration continues to capture critical information important to the understanding of mineralization controls" -- namely that these sites of complexity are often the locations of high-grade gold mineralization, thus representing high-priority target areas for future testing. With more than a dozen drills on the property, Ms. Render and her crew will have ample opportunity to put her ideas to the test
