Market action

Mining stocks got whacked at the opening bell.  I'm not sure why???  Metal prices are down slightly but not enough to warrant a sell off.

Iowa election jitters?  I can't imagine that.

Higher inflation putting early rate cuts in jeopardy thats the reason today for everything gold down
Comment by 1condor on Jan 16, 2024 10:41am
Again I will state...Dead Money. Move on.
Comment by Dixiedee on Jan 16, 2024 10:44am
Is it dead money or the opportune time to buy this stock at or near 52 week low with drilling from siemic survey just beginning
Comment by Evenkeel123 on Jan 16, 2024 11:38am
Yes, it's dead money for sure.  I think a couple I know here are down over 200K minimum, but of course, it's a great time to buy, lol.  There is no logic in the pocket of perma bulls. EK

Were you advising folks to buy at 4.50 and sell after a small gain, rinse and repeat, or soemthing like that?  Maybe I am mixing you up with soemone else, sorry if that's the case.  If that was your thought a week or two a go, is it just the recent share price action that prompted the change in view?
Comment by Retiredgeo on Jan 16, 2024 12:58pm
Mixed up.  I haven't advised anyone to buy or sell since the early days of NFG.

Bashboy...Mutton yesterday - mutton today - and mutton tomorrow...what's a troll to do?
Comment by Retiredgeo on Jan 16, 2024 11:22am
The TSX is only down 79 points.  I don't buy it.  Something else is happening. The higher US dollar can explain the slightly lower gold price.
Comment by Retiredgeo on Jan 16, 2024 1:00pm
....and the rout deepens!  Everything that I am following is getting whacked today!
Comment by Retiredgeo on Jan 17, 2024 8:10am
Apparently FED officials were making some hawkish comments yesterday on interest rates, throwing water on the prospect of future interest rate cuts.  That caused a broad market sell off, the USD soaring and commodities down. Poor NFG got caught up in all of this and is heading towards 2022/2023 lows.  It is not alone.  Barrick lost almost 9% of it's value yesterday.
