I had a long-term view about electrical demand in BC based on various sources with my earlier posts.

But for this proposed project, I'm confident there's hydro backup available. The assumption is that Northland would have not signed the definitive agreement to undertake the project, if it was otherwise.

Maybe one day windpower in the mix.---More than 90% of BC Hydro's generation is produced by hydroelectric generation, which is generally the most cost-effective, clean and reliable option. We also continue to investigate alternative sources of energy, such as wind and wave power. We generate over 43,000 gigawatt hours of electricity

Interesting, BC Hydro says--"We also continue to investigate alternative sources of energy, such as wind and wave power." Does this mean BC Hydro wishes to construct their own windfarms and wavepower facilities? When it's economically feasible and got the engineering challenges solved, wavepower may be the solution. The ocean can be a energy powerhouse.
