I will not pursue second guessing about the wind project or hydrogen/ammonia prospects in BC. Too complicated. I think all electricity has to be sold to BC Hydro. And this is required to get a project financed and may have to be price competitive. Can't direct electricity directly from wind-farm to offtakers.
Have to feel optimistic about discussing options in providing long-term economic benefits to communities. Despite the urgency of getting onboard with renewable energy, it's being done without using a steamroller. Dialogue about the future and assumptions to be made, is not easy.There are many mega projects being planned by countries to produce green hydogen/ammonia at low cost. Will be tough to be competitive, unless financial incentives are in place. It's never easy where big money is involved.
In some cases technology has to catch up to the future. Feasibility studies have to be done, etc. Planning & Logistics. I don't know much about green hydrogen and building electrolysis plants, but it costs money. Storage of green ammonia will require electricity also.
Offshore wind turbine technology is in its infancy.
RWE in Germany, will test the world's first recyclable blades at a select number of locations. All wind-farms in the world will one day have to be decommissioned and the blades recycled.
Improved monopile installation methods being tested by RWE. Vibro pile driving significantly reduces installation time and underwater noise emissions. This benefits the marine environment in particular.
Self-expanding pile shoes. Special collars at seabed level to improve structural integrity in rough waters.
