Electricity demand

Maybe can't read much into the statement below, but the Ksi Lisims LNG will also be fully electrified. Phase 2 of LNG Canada if goes ahead, is expected to use more clean electricity instead of burning natural gas. Add in a power hungry electrolyzer facility being talked about for Prince Rupert area to produce green hydrogen/ammonia. All of a sudden where will the electricity come from as nearing capacity from the single HVAC transmission line. Add in the need for spare electricity to act as backup if windpower is to be used in industries operating in the region. That people already have to ask whether BC Hydro will have enough power, leads into a few options. Build another 600km transmission line or supplement the existing line with wind power.

"Cedar LNG’s plans are contingent on receiving power from BC Hydro. Earlier this year, responding to public concerns,  the company said “it is this critical design decision that will enable Cedar to produce LNG with one of the lowest [greenhouse gas] intensities in the world. Cedar is actively working with BC Hydro, who has confirmed that it has sufficient electricity for the project.”
