Scarce Resource-Electricity
LNG power requirements large. But green hydrogen projects will need a lot of power.
1000MW for the proposed Prince George plant. That's more than any LNG project would require. Ideas to build green hydrogen/ammonia plant(s) near Prince Rupert area for export purposes, would be large facilities.
(I would like to see more value added industries via green fertilizer production). The same with wood products. Export high end, locally crafted furniture instead of lumber.
Will doubling the 500kV transmission line be sufficient?
"BC Hydro is receiving expressions of interest from sizeable customers, including proposed green hydrogen projects, which would require huge amounts of power". with files from Nelson Bennett, Business in Vancouver.
