People still talk about the windfarm
Before this project was green-lit, there was a plan to build a huge off-shore wind farm in the Hecate Strait. It was shelved, but I do wonder which would have been more cost-effective considering how much farmland this project drowned. BC has very little arable land.

Site C is required to backup windpower.
Ideas expressed in the comments-- why not use the Coastal Link pipeline route for the new transmission line and,
LNG Canada should be electrified in stages. For that to happen, Phase 2 must be built.
