Curious

“While Shell will not lead new offshore wind developments, we remain interested in offtakes where commercial terms are acceptable and are cautiously open to equity positions, if there is a compelling investment case,” a spokesperson said in a statement. (Reuters Dec 2024)

-----------------------

LNG Canada now plans to initially build Phase 2 with natural gas-powered turbines and switch to electric motors as more power becomes available, pending a final investment decision, CEO Jason Klein told Reuters on Friday.

LNG Canada has previously described this approach as only one of the options it was considering. (LNG Canada)

Interesting to see what the other options are.

------------------------------

"Prior informed consent" now necessary for an Environmental Assessment Certificate (EAC) would in effect come down to a vote by the citizens of Haida Gwaii.

Back in Dec 10, 2009 an EAC was awarded, even before the vote in 2010. My guess, under the current rules, "prior informed consent" means a vote must be held before a certificate can be issued.

And Oceanic. Talks with big offshore windfarm developer, potential offtakers and multiple First Nations.

The discussions will all the above will prove interesting in the coming months.
