VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / May 10, 2021 / NeutriSci International Inc. ("NeutriSci" or the "Company") (TSX-V: NU, OTCQB: NRXCF, FRANKFURT: 1N9), an innovative technology company developing products for the nutraceutical industry, is pleased to announce the Phase 1 R&D completion of a newly developed Cannabinol (CBN) product for the US marketplace. In conjunction with its contract manufacturing partner Pacwest, the completion of Phase 1 used NeutriSci's IP, technologies, and ingredients to create a finished CBN tablet product.

CBN is known for is its "sleepiness effect." When taken, it is known to cause drowsiness. Sleep problems are widespread in modern society. According to the Center for Disease Control, one in three adults do not get enough sleep. Sleep-deprived individuals are more likely to suffer from the most damaging health problems of the modern world, including coronary heart disease, cancer, and arthritis.

The global sleeping aids market generated a revenue of US$78.7 billion in 2019 and is predicted to progress at a CAGR of 7.1% from 2020 to 2030 to attain a value of US$162.5 billion by 2030.

As per the findings of the American Sleep Apnea Association, over 50 million Americans are diagnosed with 80 different sleep disorders every year. Moreover, the organization found that 20 to 30 million people in the U.S. suffer from various intermittent sleep problems every year.

According to the organization, insomnia is the most prevalent sleep disorder, with nearly 30% of the adults living in the U.S. reporting short-term issues and around 10% reporting chronic insomnia. Besides this, the various lifestyle changes in people such as the high consumption of caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol is also propelling the market advancement.

Furthermore, the increasing working hours, high workload and work pressure, and hectic work environment massively push up the stress levels and affect the quality of sleep. This subsequently boosts the sales of over-the-counter sleeping pills, which help improve the quality of sleep, throughout the globe.*

Glen Rehman, CEO of NeutriSci, commented, "We are pleased to see our technology, IP and ingredients being used by our partners to develop a helpful and innovative product for people with sleep disorders that has a promising revenue potential. We will continue to work with our partners to help develop more new products that benefit from our technology and IP."

it is something, really, it seemed it went without saying. The tech as a delivery system seemed like a given by now. Prior to producing anything of their own, this was their key. I am glad they are showing a partnership, but they have said this stuff before. Their IP has always done it always had partnership... show me something that reflects actual revenue. They are telling anything but what ...more

That is only Phase one of three that are required I imagine? That would likely be the case if NU will be marketing on the claim that is "assists with sleep disorders", if so that could be a long timeframe. Any idea who and what Pacwest is? background, sales, etc?
Comment by Edcando on May 10, 2021 11:39am
Ironically while little is widely known about CBN, it was the first cannabinoid  (mid)identified in the 1920s? They thought it was the compound that got one high (thc). One of the main reasons it hasn't been studies as much as thc /cbd is that it's only found in a small amounts (approx 1% of the plant). It's produced as thc/thca breaks down and/or oxidizes. While it's very ...more

Using the term phase 1 with R&D is confusing.    R&D is different than clinical trial studies which usually has 3 phases. Co. should clarify timelines.
Comment by VeritasVern on May 10, 2021 2:37pm
If making a claim such as "improves sleep" or any other claim such as reduces anxiety, it needs to be backed by science and given approval from Health Canada. So phase 1 is the first process of three which can take several years. Really I think no one gives a ratsass about this at this juncture but rather details on Japan and why there is a clear delay, guised as a rush order. l

Lol who's taking liberties now? Speak for yourself. While this news today is very forward thinking and not the news that will move the needle, I certainly give a rats a$$ about it. CBN will be a game changer for people and companies. While one needs approval from health Canada to sell and make those official claims, no one doesn't need to wait for health Canada approval to know something ...more

It should be pointed out that "health claims" need to be proven scientifically both in Canada and the US. Also while there is evidence that CBN helps with sleep, how do you patent that? Without details how does studying that and demonstrating it benefit NU only? Why spend money we dont have on a non-patent compound. Anyone have the patent on THC or CBD?
Comment by lscfa on May 11, 2021 10:19am
CBN is already part of NU patent pending..... https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/83/02/1b/51de948a89fcd2/US20200397744A1.pdf

No not in any naturally occurring compound. However you don't need to parent it to be successful . One can also be successful by patenting a delivery system that solves many of not all of the problems most edible type products have (unstable onset times and inconsistent dosing). Pretty sure non of the fast food chains have a patent on the hamburger yet they all sell millions/tens of millions ...more

Who said anything about Canada? In Canada CBD can only be sold at pot shops or govt websites. In the USA CBD is sold everywhere by everyone. Same will hold true for CBN.
Comment by Cdnguy81 on May 10, 2021 10:01pm
Clinical trials, yes, that's what they need. Another item on the list of never ending things they'll never do. This fits in perfectly with the other vapourware cr@p they claim they will be selling. Eventually. Some time in the future.  Don't worry, in November Glen will talk to that German guy, and you'll get an update that they got a multi billion dollar deal they& ...more

I think you're wrong. NU is not doing clinical trials to make claims. It is doing R&D to make a CBN tablet to enter the US market where there are already many CBN oils/softgels. These sellers don't make specific claims. They rely on the general understanding by buyers that CBN is effective for sleep. https://www.extractlabs.com/product/cbn-softgel-capsules/ https://www ...more

I wonder if this involved THC/CBD only and co. is now doing it again for CBN....... The tested formulations appear to increase the amount of active ...more

This makes a lot of sense. Unlike CBD/THC, cannabis/hemp has only trace amounts of CBN making it much more expensive. Combining CBN in a formulation that makes it more bioavailable means less of it produces the same effect, allowing competive pricing and gains in market share.
Comment by Edcando on May 11, 2021 10:49am
Yes exactly! Iirc  naturally occurring it accounts for only  like 1-3% of the compounds (until thc ages/breaks down). It's also currently not on any list of controlled aubsrances.  Here is a starter of its many "possible" benefits  https://weedmaps.com/learn/dictionary/cannabinol-cbn

I love the fact that they are working on new products and partnerships. We could have 4 good products on shelves and thats just what we know of. Once Japan cash comes in we should have plenty of cash for R and D. Like I posted before if this stuff works like it does with the energy tabs we could have another winner.
Comment by CaptainCrunchy on May 12, 2021 1:34pm
I couldn't care less about CBN. New product development seems rather pointless if none ever get onto the shelf and generate revenue. You can develop 1 million products, nice in theory, useless if not even one is selling. Focus on bringing something to market right, before thinking of doing everything half way.

Wow, that's a different tone coming from you.  Weren't you one of the posters who was wondering I've been calling them out for all these years? A grounded take from CDN is a rare thing. Lots of shared sentiments here. Beyond frustrating to be strung along with new products and new deals when none of them end up showing any results. Anyone who knows much about this company would expect once all these SKUs finally start selling that the jump in rev's would be huge for such a small cap company. Problem is the longer we wait the more it ...more

Tango, I think the fact that we are down a few cents since the announcement of the rush order + new product development  is pretty indicative that shareholders are prospective buyers are quite ready for some substantial news. 2 years holding, the day to day SP doesnt matter to me but it does cause weak hands to sell off or long term investors to reposition at a lower price, and with low ...more

I can understand most of this post and even agree with some of it. I agree the delays suck as well as the slow slide down to start rise all over again next news (rather than climb from higher base). I even agree that it lessens prospective buy pressure from both new and existing shareholders. What I don't agree with is saying its indicative of anything anything (on sell side by kings) . I am still confident that if the japan deals come through and products hit shelves trickling through states, this revenue would do wonders for this company. Simply saying, the fluff NRs that seem meant to take away the dissent from the delays does nothing for me. Finish the first promises on time, make money before you sell me on your new great idea. If the japan deal goes through?! What does that even mean lol? The japan deal has gone through. There are even minimum amounts in place (for 5 years iirc). The only thing(s) left to to determine is when will they get on shelves and how well will they sell.
Comment by CaptainCrunchy on May 13, 2021 1:18pm
Fact is, if they cannot deliver on certain guidelines the deal could fall flat. Could become a breach of contract, or a clause that allows tabletz to walk on the whole thing. This would be catastrophic, though, until they start shipping it is a possibility. For sure the biggest question is if the product sells and turns into a first mover in a fast growing enormous market. Ideally, the product ...more

Yeah sure anything could happen I guess , except that won't happen lol. Too much time and money has been spent by Tabletz to want to back out. In fact they not only asked for a rush additional order , but their revamped website seems to suggest adding US online shares . Also to be a breach of contract there would have to be gross negligence and that also isn't the case.
Comment by CaptainCrunchy on May 13, 2021 1:52pm
it would likely be an exit clause for the 5 yr deal of anything. Not like we can read the contract. But yes, extremely unlikely. Hence, looking at taking a bite of the discounted price.
Comment by CaptainCrunchy on May 13, 2021 2:01pm
you are right, Tabletz is invested in this and if anything they could put pressure on to be more timely. I can't imagine them walking like you say after everything they put into this.
Comment by Edcando on May 13, 2021 3:15pm
Well they wouldn't even need an exit clause. They'd need only not renew . Except here's the thing, while I haven't tried Tabletz yet, I have tried Neuenegy (in fact just again this morning to get my a$$ out of the house after a terrible nights sleep). It's a great product that works at least as well as advertised . Since all products are using the same IP I can only imagine the ...more
