At the edge, machine learning, real time, night video enhancement, and vastly improved image quality on Snapdragon 888 based devices. But it’s not ALIIS. It’s BlinkAI’s technology.
The following article was posted on FB last week, but did not get much discussion. What stands out for me in this article is no mention of ALIIS or Nexoptic, but rather BlinkAI that does practically the same thing.
Make every snap picture perfect with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 (androidauthority.com) https://www.androidauthority.com/picture-perfect-qualcomm-snapdragon-888-2747027/ Read it for yourself, but here are the highlights:
- “Qualcomm also partners with BlinkAI, which leverages the Snapdragon 888’s AI Engine for vastly improved night video shooting with the Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone. BlinkAI’s computational solution improves effective illumination by up to 5x to vastly improve image quality in tricky shooting environments.”
- “This technology is found inside the OnePlus 9 Pro, Oppo Find X3 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.”
Wasn’t ALIIS supposed to be integrated “onto” this chip???
ALIIS has been ready for deployment for over a year. So what devices is ALIIS sold in today? Where are NXO’s contracts? Here is a quote from Nexoptics NR a year ago (
September 11, 2020):
“Our All Light Intelligent Imaging Solutions (ALIIS) products are now ready for deployment on our partner platforms with NVIDIA and Qualcomm, and we anticipate customer deals for sales of ALIIS in the near future,” said Rich Geruson, NexOptic’s Chairman. To me, it seems like competition is eating Nexoptic’s lunch. Chip supply problems? Only a problem for NXO…does not seem to apply to BlinkAI. NXO is still making demos while BlinkAI is getting contracts.
Check out BlinkAI and their night video…pretty amazing:
https://www.blink.ai/nightvideo Does this mean NXO can’t get contracts in the future? No, I think NXO still has good potential, but perhaps this is a splash of cold water for the dreamers who think NXO has some kind of monopoly with their patents and partnerships.
Any thoughts on this article?
Good luck to all.
