Back from PDAC
There has been a very big welcome back to the mining Industry in Toronto in the form of the very well attended PDAC 2023.
A truly global event with participants from all over the world pitching their Country, their Drilling equipment, their Companies and their often hard working employees.
It's amazing when you see the thousands of people all dressed up with nervous and eager smiles. The booth minders are watching you. Are you a future client ? A politician to pitch to ? or just a cleaner picking up garbage ?
But you can see some are more optomistic than others. And one thing you learn quickly is that in this environment being dressed great does not mean you have the best brain.
There are some very smart people here. But they do share that one question ? How did I end up in this mining world - where just one in ten thousand actually make it to mine status, and even then it's a crapshoot if it even turns a profit ? Hilarious world. But there's money. Like a Casino.
Speaking with representatives of the NWT they are very on the ball and they are very aware of the importance of Diamond Mining and Mining overall in general to their territory.
It's no secret the major Diamond miners in the NWT are winding down their historic production and the next big one has not been found. Will the majors keep searching ?
It will be an option that they will be releasing prospective land mineral rights back "to the market for availablity" which there may be an opportunity.
It was stated from representatives of the NWT that the Olivut team were a pleasure to work with and they would be supported in all their efforts in the NWT.
The NWT rep knew the Olivut story completely and was able to outline exactly where they stand.
At the end of the day what will be important here will be land based.
First we have to establish good relations with the people on their land. And this is possible when done correctly.
Second we will have to do smart soil work and blend it with modern tech as the terrain can be challenging and certain maps and previous trenching and drilling don't exist.
When you look at Discoveries in the NWT - there are many large ones surrounding us within a few hundred kms. Our properties are a mystery. And it should be noted that we are still searching for the source kimberlite of the diamonds found.
As well like was mentioned by the NWT reps, there are probably some surprises within the lands Olivut has rights.
Again with our great management and shareholders who really knows the future of Olivut. But in some ways it does seem like kind of a waste to have all this experience just sitting around thinking "what should we do next?"
It's time for action. Maybe pick up some new properties ?, maybe search for industrial Metals on the property ? Maybe search that 8km strike length that showed gold traces ? maybe grab some land off the majors who will be leaving ?
Action speaks !
