War
Why is nobody on the board talking about the potential of war between Guyana and Venezuela. I sure hope this referendum by Venezuela is voted down. Is this potential not coming into play concerning any buyout. Long but nervous. Glta

Thank you for the reply. Low voter turnout, but still a yes vote, does not invalidate the result. If Maduro has something nefarious planned. Then only a 'no' vote will hamper his plans IMHO. The people of venezuela better take this seriously. I thought that maybe a relief of sanctions would curtail him but it looks like he doesn't care.

I will lurk there and chime in when appropriate if the topic arrises. The only person that can stop this. Who can come to guyanas true defense is Lula. Ironic that two socialists would wage war against each other. What better way to increase the price of oil to take Guyana off line. Out of left field a new regional war in a place nobody saw coming.

Guyana has the law and the deep pockets of Exxon & Chevron on their side. War won't be an issue and even if some skermishes occur....Corentyne license is on the Suriname border not the Venezuala side.

It is good our oil field is not in the disputed area. However, the port/berbice river is. Threats of future investments into Venezuela by xom/cvx could deter Maduro but his oil fields are degraded and not coming back anytime soon. Friday we better get this cgx story resolved. Glta

In September 2020, the United States announced that it would join Guyana on sea patrols in the area. All you need to know!

to this point, Guyana delegation was in Washington DC this summer. SOS Blinken was in Guyana this summer, as well. Topic was security assistance. The total amount of USG foreign military sales mirrors the oil price curve, so this is no surprise, to your point. One further, Chevron/Hess/Exxon are also about influence in the region and oil supply.
