CFIUS steps used to assess National Security Risks
According to a pamphlet of information published by a lawfirm in USA, these are the steps that CFIUS usually verifies to ensure that there are no national security risks to the transaction involving the Viston acquistion.
From my limited understanding of this process, I did not see any issue with any of these steps with regards to Viston:
====================================================================================
The foreign investor’s nationality and the extent of its ownership by foreign governments (e.g., Chinese and Russian investors are generally perceived as higher risk)
#### Viston is located in a neutral country Switzerland, which is friendly to USA and EU.
The likely impact of the proposed transaction on the availability of products and services needed for national defense
#### The projected 10,000 barrels of oil per day by Viston will unlock oil for the US at a badly needed time. It helps the USA and it is clean technology, safe for the environment.
The export control status of the target’s products, software, and technology
#### Oil will be sold in the USA
The target’s contractual relationships with the US government and the role of the target’s products in the supply chain relating to products eventually used by the government
#### There is no contractual relationships with US government
The target’s involvement in and ties to critical infrastructure in the United States (such as ports, airports, pipelines, rail systems, the power grid, and telecommunication systems)
#### There is no ties to critical infrastructure
The target’s storage of and access to detailed personal/customer information (such as credit card information, Social Security numbers, and personal health information)
#### The company operates in oil so this question does not apply
The proximity of the target’s assets to sensitive US government locations, such as military installations (which may be known or unknown to the target)
#### Leases for oil are not located near any military installation.
Close business relationships between the foreign investor and third parties that pose a risk to national security
#### None that I know of.

This is the informative type of post I like to see on the BB. Well done. I 'm thinking now that Viston's issue is not with CFIUS, but with what management has done in the past that continues to surface. When a former founder/CEO gets fined $500K it speaks volumes.

Expected this to be sorted at beginning of year, dragging on but nothing negative it seems. Looks like loose ends are being tied but still am waiting with cautious optimisim :o)

Maybe the time delay is being used to line up new customers for their technology. There has been no reports on the utilization of the first production unit, makes one wonder why the secrecy. Just my humble opinion.
