He keeps referring to when we find oil and then is smirking and says they'll be an announcement this week:
"And I believe, that an announcement is probably going to be made this week as to the initial exploration results. I think, let's wait and see what the announcement is going to be"

I watched... interesting, but pretty speculative to assume something from his smirk. He did light up at the mention of ReconAfrica, but that could just be because they are in a great position to benefit if something good happens
He did say he thought an announcement on findings could be this week, which is strange, since ReconAfrica said it wouldn't be until after all three have been drilled
I could see an operational update happening soon though... I'm just guessing at all this though!

Yeah the body language is a whole other level of analysis I don’t even think is needed. What he says is the most important.
Him saying he expects initial project results right away is super interesting. It’s something you can’t help but think about - if they have 100% hit no brainer oil already, why not come out and announce it.
I like the initial move of keeping your cards close to your vest and declaring no results till all 3 drilled - it’s a shrewd move. But once you have proven up the sub-basin you are in - why not, right? It means you can get revenues flowing faster and start accelerating the whole project. Who knows, though. It could just be the operational update we are half expecting he is referencing. Important to keep an even keel, but the money I was going to put into gold mines tomorrow is going into Recon now, I will say that lol.

I agree that the smirk is probably overinterpretation, and I edited my post to remove the mention of it. People can make their own judgements on facial expression.
Perhaps it's just been too many choppy weeks not to get overexcited.
I have to say that I feel at a loss as to what this announcement could be. He specifically says preliminary exploration results.
ReconAfrica have stated they will not be issuing technical results until the end.
Option A): Their statement still holds, and this update will be non-technical in nature.
Option B): They changed their mind.
It's easier to imagine Option B) examples than Option A) examples. Can anybody think of any?

We've already had an operational update. There isn't one due till well #2 gets spudded.
Also, and I hate to be the one playing word games, but he does use the words "exploration results"

I tend to agree, this is not an overheard conversation of a ‘somebody’ in a bar in Windhoek, this is the CEO, Managing Director of the state oil company, not casually speaking, but on National television. To me very unlikely to be a mistake
