Shallow Well Depths

The most likely reason the wells were not drilled deeper is that they encountered basement rock, i.e., granite or granite like rock.

The most likely reason this basin has been passed over by the majors for the past 60yrs or so is that this is a shallow basn and does not contian the deep, pressured shales which are the source rock for oil/gas deposits in the shallower resrvoir rocks.

yeah this has quickly become a big f-in joke. Apologies to jimgeorge and Franklin.Unfortunately this management team apparently doesn't mind lying and or misrepresenting the truth. And the truth is what I expect from jarvie, cathey and steinke. If the 6-2 was unable to reach TD of 12,500ft. and is unable to retrieve cores of Permian aged shale to be tested and compared to the supposed 620ft of ...more
