It’s been two years since British oil and gas supermajor BP Plc. (NYSE: BP) dramatically declared that the world was already past Peak Oil demand. In the company’s 2020 Energy Outlook, chief executive Bernard Looney pledged that BP would increase its renewables spending twentyfold to $5 billion a year by 2030 and “... not enter any new countries for oil and gas exploration”.That announcement came as a bit of a shocker given how aggressive BP has been in exploring new oil and gas frontiers.

Ps Looking at the bright side, with the oil majors not doing exploration, that is why they need us. We are already there and doing it! This only can make us more valuable.

The way the chinese are securing resources around the globe ... I would put money on they would be a partner at some point.

Agree yodog- the Chinese are big players in Namibia spending a fortune on beefing up Namibia's oil facilities, port, security forces, officers' training college, etc. and even building warships for Namibia as I have posted. Again Namibia is a small country. Why invest so heavily in it if there is not oil? My thinking is that is becoming clearer that the Chinese and French (Total Energy ...more

I really can't believe that BP is so stupid as to not concentrate on oil exploration and development. Exxon has done extremely well taking long shots in remote places that were not on the oil companies main radars. See below link.
