Now the Swiss are moving in big time into Namibia
The Swiss apparently have been awarded the concession to operate the new super state-of-the art Chinese built Walvis Bay port. A lot of locals are not happy about all the "foreigners" moving in and running things.
What I find interesting is that since Switzerland is a land locked country why is it so big in the deep water port running business? Also why have the Chinese built and invested so much in a port vastly larger and more sophisticated than Namibia would need?
My opinion: only one reason! OIL! And a lot of it that would need a massive investment in infrastructure!

Surprisingly Switzerland does have a small navy of sorts and even one of a kind of submarine. And they navigate the Rhine River. But I still find it a amazing that they are so big in the deep water port business. And now in Namibia a long way from the Rhine.
