It is a possibility. If they did privatize, what price do you think they'd offer shareholders of the Ret.a and Ret shares?

For my part this $2,85 RET.a is a good deal so buying here even if my initial cost is way below. With what we know as far as assets $2,85 is a no risk entery level if you're patient

I added more as well. Trading at just $0,75 more than cash, no debt and $800 m in sales..

You said the exact same thing about BBD.

And... it never happened. Good that it didn't because BBD stock is now much, much higher. If RET wanted to privatize they would have done it for a song when it was trading for pennies.

Good point FG , and at this price risk/reward is VERY favourable. Nervous novice selling the cie for free this morning

Both are now trading close to the same price. Is there a buyout that is under consideration that needs a lower price to look atttactive ?

Well, if there is a chance of a buyout I just hope that they dont screw with small investors....

Remember the family owns the stock if they find a suitor for peanuts it would not be good. If there desire is to take it private they would have offer a fair price , given the value it's north of $6.

This statement was often repeated on the BBD board during their darkest hour in the midst of a difficult turnaround. In the end, they didn't screw shareholders with either a bankruptcy or a buyout at dirt cheap prices. They restructured saving investors and their almost century old brand from shame and collapse. I see Reitmans taking a similar path.
