Retail Sales likely under reported.
If money supply has increased YTD 3.4% and immigration has increased how is it possible for retail sales to dramatically decrease?
StatsCan has a history of under representing inflation. I can't back this up but look at pictures of people in line at a food bank. I think many Canadian families can't keep up with inflation.
Economics 101 Supply and Demand
Apparel suppliers are concentrated vs demand which is dispersed. Reitmans has a fortress like balance sheet which means it can withstand a couple of quarters of losses. Companies with avriable debt may not be so lucky

Agree with the Count. $100M in cash. Book value of land and property $100M. No long term debt. Not too many retail are so lucky. Look at Indigo or Roots with its large long term debt load.

Seems like some can't recognize a great deal when it's staring right at them. The Gap hitting new highs again today American Eagle within pennies of it's high and Abercrombie and Fitch very close behind. There is a reason for this. The prospects are looking good.

What a pumper you are Savy. Instead of looking at American companies, why don't you look at Canadian companies instead? You know US is doing much better than Canada. How is Aritzia doing? I can answer that for you. Not very good. Respect the lags in monetary policy. The markets can get a lot cheaper during a recession.

Narcissistic always like to brag about how perfect they are. Only you Savy can outperform the market. You are the best and all of us are inferior to you.

Seems like they expecting massive earnings, everyone waiting, maybe the bonus money going back to bottom line?
