Patient Copay

I still don't believe Reliq mgmt when they say copay is not an issue. If patients have to pay 20% they will think twice about enrolling or staying on the plan long term.

To qualify for reimbursement, CMS expects providers to ensure they follow these RPM requirements:

  • Charge Medicare Part B patients a 20% percent copayment. This copay is generally not waivable, but it may be covered if a patient has supplemental coverage or Medicaid. Note: Commercial payers establish their own copay policies and may choose not to require a copay.

IFSCA -  Here is why I don't see it as an issue. Dual eligible Medicare/Medicaid (25%) and Medigap (40%)  Medicare patients pay no deductible.  Many Medicare advantage plans (50%) also pay no deductible.  Greater than 65% of patients will pay no deductible and the number is probably 80% if you include Medicare advantage.

This sounds bleak. https://www.chartspan.com/blog/why-remote-patient-monitoring-rpm-is-a-wolf-in-sheeps-clothing/

What is the frequency of copay? Is co-pay just a one-time event when the monitoring goes online? In the U.S., copays are usually the least of the citizens' worry in affordability of our for-profit health system that bankrupts a half million citizens annually.

Copays are every month that clinician is billing Medicare.
