Tax Loss Selling
The junior miners continue to take it on the chin. 2013 will go down as another big loss for the whole sector confirming the worst performance I do believe ever for the juniors. Why do I bring this up is because I think it is having an effect on Reservoir as well. We have had a great run from the first day trading at 65 cents (my lowest price was 51 cents). At the high this year that would be an 8 to 10 time gain. As a percentage of gain I believe we have seen most of it at this point. The current analyst price is $7 in the next 12 months and our own guesses from this board are $8 to $12. That is just another 1 to 2 time gain. I’m sure we are seeing early investors selling to take money off the table and buy into the tax loss selling that is going on. There are good juniors with great plays that are selling for pennies. Some I’m holding that are down by 90+ percent. These juniors are going to have to continue raising funds in this horrible market which is good if you are the guy coming in with new money. This is probably a great time to get low price stock and warrants. For example I participated in the Reservoir offering in the beginning and received a warrant for every share I bought and exercised those last October for 90 cents. Don’t be surprised if the next news release brings out more sellers including Reservoir management. Reservoir hopefully has a long way to go but with the price up there are possibly other investments that could be more profitable in the end. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking of what to do with my portfolio in the months to come. I also think Simon took some of the wind out of our sails by talking about the scoping study won’t be done for a year followed by a pre-feasibility, then a feasibility study and then several years down the road raise funds to pay their 25% of the mine. The slow release of results from Freeport does not help and points to this continuing to be dragged out. It’s great to be a prospect generator before a discovery but it is now apparent not so great after the discovery.
