Homework?
You mentioned, 'even found some old (Unrecorded ) trench work'. The Golden Dawn magnetic survey was done in 2008, showing the magnetic low. The chances of anybody knowing about this magnetic low prior to 2008 is slim. Therefore, if these trenches were dug prior to 2008, then it was all about the rocks, and not the magnetic low. If dug after 2008, you would think there would have been info (assessment files) recorded. Old geology maps indicate only basalts. If I were RTM, I would run 2 MMI soil sampling reconnaissance lines, one NS and one EW across the center of the magnetic low to completely cover the low, with 25m stations, before any drilling is done. A complete suite of elements should be analyzed. Just my opinion. The drilling can wait. And don't forget the magnetic HIGH to the south of the magnetic low. What's the source for this HIGH? Analogy: do good homework first, before you write the final exam.
