Potash, a vital agricultural resource, serves as an indispensable nutrient for crops. Despite being a massive food producer, the United States imports 94% of its potash, mostly from Canada. Top potash producers also include Russia, Belarus and China. With this potash prices saw an 87% increase in 2021 largely because of sanctions put on Russia. Additionally the cost of shipping potash from Canada to the US can add $150 – $225/ton to potash costs.
Considering all of this it is clear that the US could greatly benefit from more domestic potash production. More info here: https://investorintel.com/critical-minerals-rare-earths/sage-potash-seeks-to-address-supply-chain-security-and-sustainability-with-domestic-us-production/
Sage Potash Corp. (SAGE.v) is actively working on the development of the Sage Plain Potash Property, with the goal of emerging as a prominent producer of potash within the United States.
The Sage Plain site is situated in Utah's Paradox Basin, an area which is recognized for its vast and high-grade potash deposits. According to the US Geological Survey, the region is estimated to hold approximately 2 billion tons of this essential resource. SAGE is strategically positioned to harness this abundant reserve and contribute to the domestic potash industry.
SAGE believes that it will be able to reach pilot plant production within 1 to 2 years. After pilot production SAGE plans to expand production from 50,000 to 150,000 tons per year and believes it could sustain that for at least 20 years.
Planning is currently being done for a phase 1 project at Sage Plain which will include drilling the Sage 1 Well, a water brine supply well, and a disposal well. The link above is a great resource if you want to learn more. Posted on behalf of Sage Potash Corp.
