There is a pressing need for the United States to establish a domestic source of potash. This is essential for ensuring food security and reducing the high transportation costs associated with importing potash from Canada, which can range from $150 to $225 per ton. Potash is a critical fertilizer that plays a vital role in supporting the massive agricultural sector in the United States.
Sage Potash's (traded as SGPTF or SAGE for Canadian investors) Sage Plain Potash Project, located in Utah, stands as a promising solution to this challenge. Utah is recognized for its progressive, safe, and stable regulatory environment, and it possesses extensive untapped potash resources. Specifically, this project is situated within the Paradox Basin, which is estimated to contain an impressive 2 billion tons of potash, including high-grade deposits.
While the primary focus of the Sage Plain Project has been its estimated 279.5 million metric ton potash resource, the project also holds significant potential for valuable lithium and other soluble saline mineral resources.
As Sage Potash is committed to maximizing the value of its mineral leases, it has established a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, Sage Lithium Corp., to explore the project's lithium and other saline mineral resources.
This strategic move is backed by historical data from drilling activities in the Paradox Formation, which indicate the presence of super-saturated brines containing valuable minerals such as lithium, bromine, and potassium.
Sage Lithium is well-positioned to commence its exploration endeavors, planning to initiate drilling operations for two wells while concurrently conducting comprehensive sampling, testing, and analysis of strata suitable for extracting brines containing lithium, bromine, and other soluble saline minerals.
