spinco & SALT valuation

the other thing w/ spinco's - when they do happen, you will see the share price of SALT drop.  we dont know by how much yet, that'll be a mystery to us until it actually happens.

the value of SALT represents the salt deposit, PLUS the dome, PLUS the other assets we have.  whatever is spun into spinco will be taken off the top of SALT and put into spinco.

so, if we're at 2$ now, we could see it "drop" to maybe 1.5 and spinco worth .50, for a total of 2$ between the 2.   but you'll have a fraction of the shares in spinco that you do w/ SALT.  it's all head-scratching, magic wand waving stuff.  thankfully the brokers figure it out for you and give you the cost basis for spinco.
or it could be SALT = $1 and spinco = 1$.  or any other such combination.  thats for the company and mostly the investment bankers to decide...

happy friday before memorial day long weekend to those who celebrate it!

The dome is undeveloped, it's value will increase as it is developed, the dome, the resource in it must be extracted to utilize the storage I believe.  I would, myself, hesitate to put a value on an undeveloped storage.  That in itself, the extraction, takes time.  When Red Moon was spun out it's distribution was 1 share of Red Moon if you owned 3.812 shares of Vulcan...I ...more

whats it worth now?  we know the size, 4.1 km by 1.3 km.  MASSIVE! i will have to re-listed to the youtube, rowland was asked how it compares in size to the Utah salt dome and i dont think he answered it.  my recollection is that he seemed to side-step that.  i'm really not sure where this 4.1x1.3 fits in w/ other domes... well, yes, it will increase for sure (hopefully!) ...more

Considering the salt resource is way bigger and the dome is way bigger and the market is experiencing volatility your assumption is faulse that each is worth $1 . This is all undeveloped pure play natural resource

I didn't say they were worth 1$ each.  I said they could be.  Or maybe it's 1.50 and .50.  or next week it'll be 1.55/.55 for a total of 2.10.  Today it's worth a total of 1.94, so maybe that's  1$ and .94. Or  1.61/.33. Or 1.22 and .72.  Or..should I go on? or maybe they're worth 5 billion.  Or maybe 10B   The only thing ...more

It will drop a bit after the record date, but that will be short lived. This mine resource is an industry killer. Whoever owns it owns the salt sector. They could sell for a profit for what it costs to mine at say compass. There will be a bidding war. I am sticking to my $50+++ buyout.  The domes, I know for a fact fortisque toured the churchill falls and muskrat falls power plants. They ...more

While I don't disagree that there's going to be a big payday out of this for investors, I think $50 buyout is a stretch (not completely impossible, mind you, just a stretch). I won't say it isn't happening, but there are global factors to consider that don't make this an industry killer so much as an industry crown jewel for whoever owns it. Globally, from a national ...more

When i say industry killer i am refering to the mines in north america.  Take godridge i believe it costs likr $44 just to mine it. I am not refering to world wide. But they could absolutly destroy the profit structure and viability of existing companies.  They will displace most of the 10 million tons of imported salt from the turd world. And the 2 million tons of production estimate is ...more

Yes, Crunchmeister, "Canticle" brings out some valid points.  The 2 million tons annual production number is most likely as startup numbers (and it's a good number to start with) ie. year1.  When it's developed more they potentially could triple that or even more depending on how many continuous miners they put into use at one time.   Goderich produces between ...more

Be it 20, 50 or more we can all agree we are all going to make out like bandits here. Its just a matter of waiting a bit longer for our reward :)

No argument from me on that at all, patience may be a virtue, but boy is is hard when you are sitting on something like this :)

I have been in this for over a year now. I am to be honest very comfy. I can wait a while for a huge payday. I see it as great management taking the necessary steps to maximize and produce a quality package. Does not matter if it is sold or developed, we are going to make coin like trudeau in a corrupt backroom deal ;)
