About Bitcoin at $20,000...

Because I have a silver (and SCZ) bull market outlook of one to four more years I hope you guys don't mind my introducing other related topcs for discussion--food for thought--in the meantime.  Believe me I obsess over spot silver, SCZ volume, Zimapan closing news and carefully read your posts with gratitude.  However, if only for my mental health, i do try to keep a long term focus and an open mind.

So is Bitcoin vs. Precious Metals binary?  Either/Or?  One or the Other?  You must make your choice!

I don't think so.

If ten or twenty thousand years ago a bunch of nomads could settle down and make the folks in the next valley this offer 'Okay, it's three goats, two dead elk and a rhino horn for your daughter and throw in that piece of shiny metal you got yourself a deal'...then i see no reason now why a few billion people under 40 years old could collectively say 'precious metals, gimme a break' and prefer cyber coins that exist in cyberspace where they have for the whole of their lives lived, played and conducted their daily business'.

I don't see why not.

Competition for precious metals?  Yup.  But no big deal. Bitcoin $100,000?  Sure. And silver $30, $40 and points beyond...all in one to four more short years.

Cheers.

I like the discussion. In my mind the bullish and bearish case for precious Metals and bitcoin remain the same or they should be the same. One question I have about bitcoin is how is the government going to ever regulate that. I prefer assets that I can touch still. Silver still has has a commercial component to it for demand.

Yes. The precious metals and bitcoin bullish case revolves around the destruction of the US dollar by trillion dollar stimulus--supposedly Biden will go for two or three trillion more--and the accompanying inflation.  And of course government debt worldwide keeps growing. Part of cybercurrency's 'sales pitch' is that the blockchain technology which makes it secure (which i ...more

The Bitcoin Game Tuesday, 24 November 2020 Hugo Salinas Price     I am not a fan of Bitcoin, for several reasons: 1. Bitcoin relies on the continued existence of a worldwide electronic Internet. In the event of WAR, the Internet will go down instantly. Goodbye, Bitcoins! 2. Bitcoin is quoted hourly, on CNBC, and its price does not suffer from constant attacks ...more

The fact that gov't bodies around the world have sort of ignored BTC up to now suggests to me that likely they aren't threatened by it and will endeavour to comabt the declining purchasing power of their own currencies by creating their own version of a crypto currency. I agree that BTC and Au/Ag are all very highly inverse correlated to the $US dollar. As the dollar continues to lose ...more

Ahhh, All-In-Sustaining-Cost is the great fudge number of all time.  A high AISC means that they are spending a lot of money, but is that gas money and wages?  Or is that money spent on replacement equipment and infrastructure?  That's why you need to look beyond that AISC number.  They dumped all of their profit back into the company after many, many years of living lean.& ...more

I think it's a marking time earnings report trending in the right direction.  This company survived--barely--and is now positioned for the good times.   Growing revenues is fine.  More importantly it was preceded by the nine million dollar placement which went directly, literally into the ground.  Equipment that moves increasing tonnage to processing every day.
