Speculation and investing are very different approaches to making money.
Buying penny mining stocks is not investing. It's speculating. It's short term and when the stock has risen to a level that you have predetermined you sell. Simple! And you make money! If you set your exit level too high you will be burned. Speculation requires a high level of discipline and that is the most difficult quality to attain.

Crescat is not about investing. In my view its all about speculatiing in promising upstarts. You enter early. You take your profit and exit early. You don't hold on to their recommendations for the long term because most will fail.

I was late buying ESK and now I'm stuck with it. My bad! LOL. However I bought NFG at about 1.60 and sold in the $8 dollar range so make good money. As soon as SGD reaches my predetermined level  I will sell. Many of these companies will never again reach the price level attained when tey were new in the game. I've also bought a few thousand sahres of TECT as I believe this is a money maker.

So, in summary none of these are investments. If you want investments buy utilities and banks and read Pat McKeough, who is one of the best.

Retired Geo - You mentioned you own two of Crescat's stocks and are considering buying two more.  Would you care to share what those 4 companies are?  I'm in to both SGD and NFG and am also interested in a couple others that QH discusses, but have not come to any conclusions yet.  If you'd rather say privately, pm me.  I have picked up a few of his companies of ...more

I'm a long term investor who invests in properties on the basis of geology.  I currently own New Found Gold (NFG) and Core Assets (CC).  During the next pullback I will pick up some SGD and I-80 (IAU).  In my opinion all 4 will have big, lucrative mines.  Core might have 2-3 on their huge land package.  We shall see. Speculating on the basis of the next press release ...more
