stock action

It doesn't take much of a downdraft in the spot Gold price to send the gold stock speculators running.

I don't know how low the SGD share price will go but it is backed by 10 million ozs of Gold!  If the share price goes low enough I'm sure one of the majors will make a play for it.

... I sure hope none of those big players read your assured supposition. If they do, I sure hope the board has enough fire power, back bone and all the rest needed to fend off any permature move. Besides...We all know that the big guys don't look at the smaller fish in the pound, LOL! Anyway, it is wat it is, nothing we can do if the move is made. That's the game. There is only one Sean ...more

I'd be very surprised if BTO isn't the company that takes out SGD. BTO is a reputable company that actually builds and operates mines (not a investment fund company, not a  wealthy individual precious metals investor who is not a mine builder, etc.) that Scott Berdhal likes and trusts with a ongoing 10% stake in SGD. The only questions in my mind are how long will it be before ...more

One more prediction: SGD shareholders will be paid in BTO shares, not cash, so they will have the option of selling their BTO shares after the deal closes, or keeping them if they like BTO going forward.

... big NO to that idea, IMO for the small guy CASHisKING. I don"t want to be tied up to the future plans of some other board that i haven't been follwing. Give me the money and let go to the field of explorers and do what they on the ground, I want to explore for my next play. I do understand that for the bought company if the deal takes with it most of the founders and rewards them on ...more

It works out the same either way.  If you get BTO shares then you sell them for cash. I'm expecting another big company, like Barrick, to pick up a sizable chunk at any time.  This is a big deposit which they can't afford to lose.

Ok, I get it ... ! Anyway, I sure hope that the resource is expanded, derisked and valued enough so that  -  like you mentioned -   more than one dog fights for the bone, benefiting us in the end. GBR, for instance, defended the value of their deposit in a way that got a nice pay for all. We'll see what and how the play unfolds here. Until then ... just me.

I think Barrick is an unlikely suitor. CEO Bristow has stated he is more interested in adding copper plays and/or merging with another big boy to further consilidate the industry. Plus, ABX's environmental track record when building and/or operating mining projects is horrible while environmentally responsible mining and respecting First Nations input are among the stated goals of Berdhal in ...more

That's the beauty of common shares - you can sell your SGD shares at any time, including either before or after a potential takeout deal is announced but not yet closed, wait until after it closes and sell your (new) shares, hold on to your new company shares, etc. The reason I'm quite confident it will be an all-share deal is building a mine is expensive, especially if it's located ...more
