QH sure did plug SGD as a takeover target for Newmont!  Perhaps the #1 target for them.  Sure would love to wake up one morning, check my emails, and discover a nr stating Newmont has made an offer.  Hope that's not 'just in my dreams!'

I'm expecting a buy in instead of a buy out.  B2 gold buying 10% of SGD and Barrick buying 20% of BIG seems to be the current trend.

How do buy-ins help the majors?  Is it just a foot in the door and they let the junior do a large portion of the ground work?  And then what?
Comment by Retiredgeo on Feb 25, 2024 6:35am
It's a start, not the end game.  You can make the argument that SGD is still too risky for a buy in.  NFG ditto.  BIG ditto.  The majors don't like risk.  Someone's butt is going to be on the line.

I am new to this stock and watched Quinton gush over it as well. I love the grades and am thinking of buying in but was wondering if you seasoned guys could answer a few questions. Quinton stated that SGD has AIC of $400 so it is a no brainer, but I’ve been involved in a few mine construction projects and depending on their final resource, the infrastructure and ...more

The lifetime of the mine is all important.  If it will be in operation for 20-30 years the enormous infrastructure cost can be amortized over a long period of time making the true yearly gold cost ~$1000 USD/oz. Since he is not a company officer QH can voice his opinions on his podcast any way he wants.  You don't have to listen to him and no one cares if you believe him or not ...more

I figured I would get some hate for asking questions, but you have answered my questions well! You are correct about QH not being a company official, but Crescat is a significant shareholder and his listeners do deserve better than his halving the cost and doubling the reward. Ippreciate your response though. Thank you

To me it sounds like this was the reaction you wanted based on your "questions".  Don't really care about YOUR OPINION on Crescat and thier calls.  See the great thing about this being a free country is that you have the choice to listen to whomever you want.  Think SGD is too risky, don't buy and move on.  It's not hard.
Comment by Alcamino on Feb 26, 2024 3:18pm
Not really, I was hoping someone who followed this story for a long time could clarify QH remarks! I don’t know if it is risky or not, so I asked for opinions and you have given me yours. I just got excited but confused about a stock when a promoter says AISC are 1/3 of industry average, as you should too! See the great thing about this being a free country is that we can both have an opinion ...more

Alcamino. IMO, QH is 50% geologist and 50% stock promoter re. the companies he holds in his funds as he hopes for more investment dollars in his funds and/or others to bid up the share prices of the companies his funds hold, so any bullish narrative he pitches would at most be a starting point for doing further research before making any investment decision. For example, QH was right on ...more
